Cindytalk

The current line-up of Cindytalk’s live band (as of January 2026) is Sharp aka Cinder, Massimo Farjon Pupillo (Zu) and Thighpaulsandra (Coil).
Since their first album, ‘Camouflage Heart’ (Midnight Music, 1984), Cindytalk has released 16 albums, the most recent of which, ‘That We Must Pass Through This Life,’ will be released on the 16th of this month by Line, the label of sound artist Richard Chartier. Her ethereal voice has been immortalised on albums by This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins, while Cidytalk’s music has mutated over time, from that post-punk sound, through glitch and even the suffocating atmospheres of drones.
‘Sunset and Forever’ —released on 30 January 2025 by the experimental label The Helen Scarsdale Agency, run by musician and music critic Jim Haynes— consists of seven tracks, opening with the 18-minute “Embers of Last Leaves,” which immerses the listener in a tide of synthesizers and drones that descend into a dark, bottomless tunnel. After the abstract noises of ‘Eien No Yūyake,’ a synthesised ambient line emerges, subtly expanding and contracting. ‘Tower of the Sun’ captures ambient noises; objects collide and form deep echoes that shape a desolate world. In ‘My Sister the Wind,’ there are few traces of life left, only the sounds of machines. ‘Invisible Adventure,’ meanwhile, features a kind of arpeggio created by design software.
‘I See Her In Everything’ closes an album with an unsettling atmosphere would be well suited to soundtrack a post-apocalyptic film.
