Este es el tercer álbum del compositor y artista sonoro suizo Rolf Gisler, con el seudónimo de DarkSonicTales, para el sello de Suiza Hallow Ground, luego de su álbum homónimo (2021) y «Ellipsis» (2024)
“UnKown” es un disco que consiste en cinco piezas que confluyen en el drone, post-rock y minimalismo, acompañado de grabaciones de campo e instrumentos electrónicos y acústicos como la guitarra, bajo, batería y kalimba.
El primer track de este álbum, “Ellipsis(Origin” respira un aire inquietante con suaves golpes a la guitarra que resuenan a través de ecos interminables.
La canción homónima desarrolla un extenso drone de guitarra procesada, en tanto hacia la mitad de la canción, emerge una batería que despliega un pesado beat cancino que hace guiños al dub ralentizado de Kevin Martin.
“SomeCallItRunning” con sus notas repetitivas, es el preámbulo para “TrainStation” donde la guitarra arranca con notas que quedan suspendidas en el espacio, junto a voces que se pierden y se escuchan de fondo. “Drain”, último track del disco, asoma desde el silencio con silbidos tenues casi imperceptibles que se cuelan por un túnel por donde se vierten ruidos de agua.
Rolf Gisler crea paisajes sonoros oscuros con gruesas capas de ruido de guitarra distorsionada que planean en las alturas.
This is the third album by Swiss composer and sound artist Rolf Gisler, under the alias DarkSonicTales, for the Swiss Hallow Ground label, following his self-titled album (2021) and ‘Ellipsis’ (2024).
‘UnKnown’ is an album consisting of five pieces that converge in drone, post-rock, and minimalism, accompanied by field recordings, electronic and acoustic instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, and kalimba.
The first track on this album, ‘Ellipsis (Origin),’ exudes an unsettling atmosphere with soft guitar strums that resonate through endless echoes.
The title track develops an extensive drone of processed guitar, while halfway through the song, drums emerge, unfolding a heavy, staccato beat that nods to Kevin Martin’s slowed-down dub.
‘SomeCallItRunning,’ with its repetitive notes, is the prelude to ‘TrainStation,’ where the guitar starts with notes that remain suspended in space, along with voices that fade away and can be heard in the background. ‘Drain,’ the last track on the album, emerges from silence with faint, almost imperceptible whistles that seep through a tunnel where the sound of water pours.
Rolf Gisler creates dark soundscapes with thick layers of distorted guitar noise that hover in the heights.
