IO es una artista polifacética de Porto Alegre, Brasil quien se desarrolla en distintas disciplinas como la música, el arte visual, escenografía y diseño de moda. En lo musical abarca desde el shoegaze, dreampop, síntesis modular hasta el harsh noise y dirige varios sellos discográficos digitales, entre ellos Shadow Tears y The Church of Noisy Goat.

“The beauty of simple things” retrata un período difícil en la vida de IO que produjeron cambios importantes en su vida; la muerte de su padre y padecer crisis nerviosa y síndrome de pánico que derivó en una agorafobia, lo que la llevó a encerrarse en su habitación por casi un año.

Este álbum -publicado originalmente el 18 de noviembre de 2023 a través del sello de Porto Alegre, Brasil, Shadow Tears-, consiste en 19 tracks y fue reeditado el 24 de agosto de 2025 por el sello de Chicago No Part Of It. Su carácter nostálgico da cuenta de su experiencia personal ya mencionada, con el devenir de lienzos ambientales con melodías edificantes y el ruido del surco del vinilo para denotar el paso del tiempo.

Varias canciones evocan al carácter épico de Stars Of The Lid con sus sesiones casi orquestadas y melodías aéreas que atraviesan todo el álbum.

IO plasma con delicadeza una parte en la sombra de su vida, no obstante ya emerge luz, apreciando y agradeciendo las cosas simples de la vida.

Musically, she ranges from shoegaze, dreampop, and modular synthesis to harsh noise, and runs several digital record labels, including Shadow Tears and The Church of Noisy Goat.

‘The beauty of simple things’ portrays a difficult period in IO’s life that brought about significant changes: the death of her father and suffering a nervous breakdown and panic syndrome that led to agoraphobia, causing her to shut herself in her room for almost a year.

This album—originally released on November 18, 2023, through the Porto Alegre, Brazil-based label Shadow Tears—consists of 19 tracks and it was re-released on August 24, 2025, by the Chicago label No Part Of It. Its nostalgic character reflects her aforementioned personal experience, with the evolution of ambient canvases accompanied by uplifting melodies and the noise of the vinyl groove denoting the passage of time.

Several songs evoke the epic nature of Stars Of The Lid with their almost orchestrated sessions and airy melodies that run throughout the album.

IO delicately captures a dark part of her life, yet light is already emerging, appreciating and being grateful for the simple things in life.
