Javier Moraga

Javier Moraga es un músico electrónico chileno quien actualmente es sonidista, comunicador de la radio “Valentín Letelier” de la Universidad de Valparaíso y fue conductor del programa «Caja de Pandora» entre 2013 a 2023, y ahora dedica al nuevo espacio radial llamado «Aldea Virtual».
En 2004, integró el quinteto Olor a la Banda en la que tocó los teclados. Luego inicia su trayectoria en solitario publicando en sellos independientes chilenos varios álbumes, EP’s y singles, siendo el último de ellos el EP “Sublimado” de marzo de este año. En este oportunidad entrega un nuevo EP con el título de “Aldea” que consiste en cuatro tracks. La apertura la hace “Indecible_s” que despliega un beat persistente junto a varias capas de notas sintetizadas – no especialmente melódicas – que quedan suspendidas en el espacio. Le sigue, “Armoníaco”, con sonidos retorcidos mientras emerge un beat techno minimalista penetrante e hipnótico, pero a mitad del track lo que parecen ser las clavijas de algún instrumento de cuerda, entran en un espiral inesperado. Continúa “Jazz Complain” – en línea con el anterior track – con un enjambre de sonidos abstractos. Cierra este EP “Grand Prix (of Complain)” en el que hay atisbos al drum’n’bass y notas de piano que van marcando el tempo de esta pieza.
Javier Moraga con este nuevo EP se aleja de ese ambient condescendiente para incursionar en derroteros más experimentales del dub.

Javier Moraga is a Chilean electronic musician who is currently a sound engineer, communicator for the radio station “Valentín Letelier” of the University of Valparaíso and he was host of the program «Caja de Pandora» between 2013 and 2023, and now he dedicates himself to the new radio space called «Aldea Virtual».
In 2004 he joined the quintet Olor a la Banda in which he played keyboards. He then began his solo career by publishing several albums, EPs and singles on Chilean independent labels, the last of which was the EP “Sublimado” released in March of this year. On this occasion he delivers a new EP with the title “Aldea EP” which consists of four tracks. The opening is “Indecible_s” which displays a persistent beat along with several layers of synthesized notes – not particularly melodic – that remain suspended in space. “Armoniaco” follows, with twisted sounds as a penetrating and hypnotic minimalist techno beat emerges, but in the middle of the track what seem to be the pegs of some stringed instrument enter an unexpected spiral. He follows “Jazz Complain” – in line with the previous track – with a swarm of abstract sounds. He closes this EP “Grand Prix (of Complain)” in which there are hints of drum’n’bass and piano notes that set the tempo of this piece.
With this new EP, Javier Moraga moves away from that condescending atmosphere to venture into more experimental paths with nods to dub.
