John Gallen
John Gallen es un compositor e intérprete electrónico y experimental británico, con una trayectoria de seis décadas y experiencia en la grabación de sonido, producción musical y mezcla para cine y televisión.
Ha trabajado en los más reputados estudios de grabación, comenzando en 1975 en el afamado Roundhouse Studios de Londres, donde colaboró en el álbum “Night At The Opera” de Queen, contribuyendo a numerosas regrabaciones y ayudando en la mezcla del álbum. Esto incluyó su canción más destacada, “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Cerrando este álbum, “Pyramids” recorre los corredores cósmicos de la Kosmische musik, cuyo video acompaña con imágenes de las Pirámides de Egipto y la presencia de un beduino traspasando las fronteras a través del desierto Sahara.

John Gallen is a British electronic and experimental composer and performer with a six-decade career and experience in sound recording, music production, and mixing for film and television.
He has worked in the most renowned recording studios, beginning in 1975 at London’s famed Roundhouse Studios, where he collaborated on Queen’s album ‘Night At The Opera,’ contributing to numerous overdubs and assisting in the mixing of the album. This included its most notable song, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’
This remarkable experience positions him to work with a wide variety of artists, including Uriah Heep, Osibisa, Marianne Faithfull, The Damned, George Benson, Billy Ocean, Motörhead, Simply Red, Go West, Maxi Priest, Aswad, Rick Astley, Boy George, Incognito, Haircut 100, and Sally Oldfield.
In 2024, he participated in the monthly SEMS sessions of the Coastal Electronauts sound artist collective in Whitstable, Kent, where a space for the creation of new sounds through electronic experimentation was created. This was the impetus for Gallen to compose his own music using the Moog Mother analog synthesizer, a thumb piano, a kalimba, and various found samples. This is captured in the album ‘Improvisations 1,’ released on August 22, 2025, by Coastal Electronaut.
The album unfurls long-form tracks that create a soundscape that evokes natural, organic, and cozy environments, as demonstrated by the opening ‘Cactus Island,’ accompanied by meandering and sinuous arpeggios. In ‘Uyuni,’ different layers emerge with a disturbing atmosphere, where the video shots show vast natural landscapes, while ‘Orbit’ seems more like the soundtrack of a disturbing film, alongside the processed tinkling of the thumb piano, and a video containing spectral images of the Universe. ‘Chandigarh’ refers to the dreamlike world of Nek Chand Saini, a self-taught Indian artist known for constructing the Chandigarh Rock Garden with recycled materials such as stones and sand. The ambient sounds in this track create an aura of mystery alongside sculptures that evoke beings from an intimidating world that also permeates ‘Titan.’
Closing this album, ‘Pyramids’ explores the cosmic corridors of Kosmische musik, whose video is accompanied by images of the Pyramids of Egypt and the presence of a Bedouin crossing borders through the Sahara Desert.
John Gallen’s music takes us to a distant, hidden world, covered by ambient baths, where the synthesized analog clouds hover over our heads trance-inducing.
