Olan Mill está compuesto por Alex Smalley y Svitlana Samoylenko que irrumpen en la escena ambient con el disco ‘Pine’ que edita el 2010 el sello Serein.
En esta oportunidad un nuevo disco ha sacado el dúo que me evoca las composiciones de Stars Of The Lid y los proyectos paralelos de sus miembros: The Dead Texan y Brian McBride publicando en solitario.
La música del estilo neo clásico con sucesivas secciones de instrumentos de viento, piano y registros de campo, crea bellos momentos que insinúan delicadas imágenes y matices nostálgicos.
Si tuviera que elegir algunos temas, me quedaría con ‘Knew Bold’ por su parsimonia y sublimes atmósferas y ‘On Leaving’ por la angelical voz de Svitlana Samoylenko que me trae a la memoria a Windy & Carl.

Olan Mill consists of Alex Smalley and Svitlana Samoylenko who break into the ambient scene in 2010 with the album ‘Pine’ released by Serein label.
Now they have released a new album that reminds me of Stars Of The Lid and their side projects: The Dead Texan and the solo works of Brian McBride.
The neo-classical music style with successive sections of wind instruments, piano and field recordings, creates beautiful moments that hint at delicate images and nostalgic overtones.
If I had to choose some songs, I’d choose ‘Knew Bold’ for its parsimony and sublime atmospheres and ‘On Leaving’ for the angelic voice of Svitlana Samoylenko that reminds me of Windy & Carl.
