Yannick Dauby es un artista francés que reside en Taipei, Taiwan desde 2007 y que trabaja los paisajes sonoros de la capital y sus alrededores con la técnica de registros de campo.
Este disco reúne tres composiciones que fueron encargadas a Dauby por distintas organizaciones: “Nous, les défunts” (2008, SilenceRadio, Belgium), “Taipei 2030” (2010, Positive Soundscape, UK) y “Ketagalan” (2011, PurePresence, France).
En “Nous, les défunts” podemos escuchar a personas conversando, perros ladrando a lo lejos, el ruido de insectos y pájaros, motos, relámpagos, corrientes de agua, pequeños fuegos artificiales y cánticos junto a percusión y timbales.
“Taipei 2030” despliega un sonido urbano, autos, zumbidos, anuncios de paradas de autobús y otros ruidos.
“Ketagalan” fue una tribu indígena de Taiwan y hoy el tren subterráneo de Taipei pasa por su territorio. La grabación captura ondas de radio, voces, pájaros, transmisiones de radio, entre otros sonidos que son manipulados electrónicamente.
Interesante registro que da cuenta de la vida urbana y los alrededores de una ciudad con historia ancestral.

Yannick Dauby is a French artist who lives in Taipei, Taiwan since 2007 and works with soundscapes of the city and its surroundings with the technique of field recordings.
This CD brings together three compositions that were commissioned by various organizations to Dauby, «Nous, les défunts» (2008, SilenceRadio, Belgium), «Taipei 2030» (2010, Positive Soundscape, UK) and «Ketagalan» (2011, PurePresence, France).
On «Nous, les défunts» we can hear people talking, dogs barking in the distance, the sound of insects and birds, motorbikes, water, small fireworks and chanting with drums and cymbals.
«Taipei 2030» displays an urban sound, cars, whirr, announcements of bus stops and other noises.
«Ketagalan» was an indigenous tribe of Taiwan and today the Taipei subway passes through its territory. The recording captures radio waves, voices, birds, radio broadcasts, among other sounds which are electronically processed.
Interesting record accounts of urban life and the surroundings of a city with an ancient history.
