Broken English Club

London DJ/producer Oliver Ho debuted in 1996 on Blueprint, a label created in 1996 by James Ruskin and Richard Polson, where Surgeon also is part of its roster. Almost 60 albums/EP’s/singles have been released during Oliver Ho’s musical career, who is known for his deployment of minimal techno wrapped in dark atmospheres, in the vein of Prurient and the late Juan Méndez aka Silent Servant of the Hospital Productions label. Ho has performed at major festivals and venues such as Berlin Atonal, Fabric, Tresor and Dekmantel Festival.
This new album, ‘Songs Of Love And Decay’ released on Dekmantel UFO Series, 2025 (Dutch label and event company based in Amsterdam), is a tribute to Juan Méndez aka Silent Servant. In Ho’s music, different nuances and influences can be discerned.
‘Love and Decay’, ‘Night Fall’, “Ghost” and ‘The Occult Body’ all have close approximations to ’80s synth-wave, with those hypnotic synthetic analogue lines.
In ‘Crawling’, ‘Death Cult’ and ‘Lost Gods’ and ‘Prisoner’ (with acid techno influences) develop hard techno with a tempo close to 140 bpm. ‘A Shallow Lake’, ‘England Heretic’, ‘Vessel Of Skin’, ‘Pacific Island Kill’ and ‘Sacred Sacrifice’ venture into a different realm of atmospheric multi-layered cinematic music. Meanwhile ‘Non Place’ winks at electro.
Oliver Ho with his vast musical background takes listeners into dance music as well as evocative spaces.
