Gustavo Denouard
Gustavo Denourd es un músico electrónico argentino radicado en Buenos Aires quien comenzó en la música tocando el sintetizador en varias bandas de pop y rock. Fue en 2020 cuando se decide a componer y producir su propia música.
“Mysterious Wind” fue grabado entre julio de 2023 y febrero de 2024 y es el séptimo álbum de estudio del artista ambiental y el primero para Projekt Records, sello estadounidense, dark wave, ambiental y neoclásico, fundado en 1983 por Sam Rosenthal, más conocido como Black Tape For A Blue Girl. Esta compañía discográfica alberga a reconocidos artistas como Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana, Lycia, Alio Die, entre otros artistas.
Mientras fue grabado “Mysterious Wind”, Denourd se encontraba viviendo en el campo, en las afueras de Buenos Aires y fue allí donde encontró el silencio y el lugar idóneo para concentrarse, reflexionar y estar cerca de la naturaleza. Aunque la portada del disco refleja un viento furioso, el álbum – que consiste en seis pistas – es apacible y navega por las aguas del ambient y el drone. Me evoca a las oleadas de sintetizadores de Will Long, más conocido como Celer.
Este álbum propone un viaje inmersivo en el que las líneas sintetizadas ambientales se expanden al infinito, generando texturas y atmósferas sosegadas que permiten hacer volar la imaginación, crear historias, evocar recuerdos e imágenes. Los drones que planean por el espacio en el que nos encontramos, nos mantienen quietos, observando y apreciando los pads melódicos que hipnotizan con su aura de ensueño. En especial, “Reflection” es un buen ejemplo de ello cuando sus melodías edificantes hacen más placentero este viaje.
Gustavo Denourd is an Argentine electronic musician based in Buenos Aires who began in music playing the synthesizer in several pop and rock bands. It was in 2020 when he decided to compose and produce his own music.
“Mysterious Wind” was recorded between July 2023 and February 2024 and is the ambient artist’s seventh studio album and the first one for Projekt Records, an American dark wave, ambient and neoclassical label, founded in 1983 by Sam Rosenthal, aka Black Tape For A Blue Girl. This record company is home to renowned artists such as Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana, Lycia, Alio Die, among other artists.
While “Mysterious Wind” was recorded, Denourd was living in the countryside, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires and it was there where he found silence, and the ideal place to concentrate, reflect and be close to nature. Although the album cover reflects a furious wind, the album – which consists of six tracks – is gentle and navigates through the ambient waters and drones. It reminds me of the synthesizer waves of Will Long, better known as Celer.
This album proposes an immersive journey in which the ambient synthesized lines expand endlessly, generating textures and calm atmospheres that allow the imagination to fly, create stories, evoke memories and images. The drones that hover over the space in which we find ourselves keep us still, observing and appreciating the melodic pads that hypnotize with their dreamlike aura. Especially “Reflection” is a good example of this when its uplifting melodies make this journey more enjoyable.
