HACKEDEPICCIOTTO
En 2001, surgieron las primeras colaboraciones entre Alexander Hacke —bajista y miembro original de la banda industrial Einstürzende Neubauten— y la estadounidense Danielle de Picciotto, artista visual, música y cofundadora del legendario festival electrónico Love Parade. En sus inicios, ambos se desenvolvieron principalmente en el ámbito de las performances multimedia.
En 2006, se unieron en matrimonio, consolidando tanto sus carreras artísticas como su relación sentimental. Cuatro años más tarde, decidieron dejar su residencia en Berlín para comenzar una vida nómada por distintos lugares de Europa; este estilo de vida itinerante los obligó a acelerar los procesos de grabación y el lanzamiento de sus discos.
Tras presentarse inicialmente como «Alexander Hacke & Danielle de Picciotto», en 2018 el nombre del dúo se consolidó oficialmente como «hackedepicciotto», creando obras para teatro, bandas sonoras cinematográficas y espectáculos de videoarte. Luego de varios años de bagaje musical, el dúo logró asentar una personalidad sonora única: mientras Hacke aporta su experiencia en las guitarras y bajos de Neubauten, de Picciotto suma arreglos corales, piano acústico e instrumentos tradicionales atípicos como la zanfoña (hurdy-gurdy).
Después de 14 años de vida nómada, el dúo se estableció en las afueras de Berlín en busca de tranquilidad, un refugio para reflexionar ante la situación actual del mundo. De ahí nace su nuevo álbum, “Lichtung” —editado el 10 de julio de 2026 por el legendario sello Mute—, cuyo título se traduce como «un claro»: ese espacio luminoso que se descubre en medio de un bosque oscuro.
Este es su primer álbum escrito y cantado íntegramente en alemán, lo que supuso un gran reto para de Picciotto y, al mismo tiempo, representó un punto de inflexión para el dúo. A lo largo de ocho canciones, la obra despliega un sonido que transita entre el darkwave, el ambient drone y ciertos matices neoclásicos; una propuesta que se plasma en guitarras melódicas, voces místicas, pasajes sinfónicos y atmósferas envolventes.
Hackedepicciotto proponen un mensaje de esperanza, como el claro en el bosque que le inspira y les hace reflexionar para la realización de este nuevo álbum que tanto tiene de nostálgico como esperanzador. A través de sus pasajes sonoros, la obra se convierte en un refugio indispensable frente a la incertidumbre del mundo actual.
The initial collaborations between Alexander Hacke—bassist and core member of industrial pioneers Einstürzende Neubauten—and Danielle de Picciotto, an American visual artist, musician, and co-founder of the legendary Love Parade festival, emerged in 2001. Initially, the duo focused primarily on multimedia performances.
They married in 2006, intertwining their personal lives with their artistic careers. Four years later, they abandoned their stable Berlin residence to embrace a nomadic lifestyle across Europe. This itinerant existence profoundly shaped their creative process, compelling them to accelerate the recording and release of their studio albums.
After initially performing under their individual names, the duo officially adopted the moniker hackedepicciotto in 2018, expanding their creative output into theater, film soundtracks, and video art installations. Over decades of shared experimentation, they forged a highly distinctive identity: while Hacke injects his signature gritty guitar textures and thunderous Neubauten basslines, de Picciotto enriches the atmosphere with choral arrangements, acoustic piano, and traditional, atypical instruments like the hurdy-gurdy.
Concluding 14 years of a nomadic lifestyle, the couple eventually settled on the rural outskirts of Berlin in search of tranquility—a psychological refuge to reflect on a chaotic global landscape. This stabilizing experience birthed their new album, ‘Lichtung,’ released on July 10, 2026, via Mute Records. The title, which translates to «a clearing,» symbolizes a rare, luminous sanctuary discovered deep within a dark forest.
Marking their first album written and sung entirely in German, the record presented a significant linguistic challenge for de Picciotto while simultaneously signaling a profound turning point for the duo. Across its eight tracks, the album charts a sonic path between darkwave, ambient drone, and neoclassical subtleties—a vision masterfully realized through melodic guitars, mystical vocal layers, symphonic arrangements, and all-enveloping atmospheres.
