Hackedepicciotto_Live
El dúo formado por Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) y Danielle de Picciotto (cofundadora del Love Parade Festival), también pareja en la vida (o en el crimen, según ellos mismos afirman), están actualmente de gira por Europa previo al lanzamiento de su nuevo disco, «Lichtung», previsto para el 10 de julio bajo el sello británico Mute Records. Tuve la oportunidad de verlos en el marco de la 33.ª edición del festival Wave Gotik Treffen, en Leipzig, Alemania.
En poco más de una hora repasando su discografía y presentando nuevo material, Hackedepicciotto demuestra ser mucho más que un dúo. Sus canciones se construyen en capas, adquiriendo una complejidad creciente a medida que se despliegan. Por un lado, Danielle puede
comenzar con el hurdy-gurdy para luego pasar al violín y el autoharp, todo ello mientras canta. Alexander, por su parte, alterna entre un bajo de sonido pesado y metálico, inconfundiblemente cercano al de Neubauten, y unas percusiones que inundan de energía una sala ya completamente hipnotizada. La evolución de sus canciones es un reflejo de los cerca de 14 años que la pareja pasó como nómadas por distintos países, salvo América Latina (mi señora les preguntó).
La gran mayoría de sus discos están cargados de letras en inglés, mientras que su última entrega es principalmente en alemán, lo que parece reflejar su asentamiento en Berlín.
Durante el concierto tuve una extraña sensación y me atrevería a decir que fue algo positivo que Hacke dejara Neubauten. Es feliz, y se nota. La química natural que comparte con Danielle llega directamente al público: ambos irradian alegría sobre el escenario; su comunicación parece casi telepática, como cabría esperar de cualquier matrimonio; y lo que estamos presenciando es un proyecto en plena floración, avanzando hacia territorios inexplorados.
The duo formed by Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and Danielle de Picciotto (co-founder of Love Parade Festival), who are also partners in life (or crime, as they claim), are currently touring Europe ahead of the release of their new record, ‘Lichtung,’ due on 10 July through British label Mute Records. I had the opportunity to see them as part of the 33rd edition of the Wave Gotik Treffen festival in Leipzig, Germany.
In just over an hour of revisiting their back catalogue and presenting new material, Hackedepicciotto prove themselves to be far more than a duo. Their songs are built up in layers, growing in complexity as they unfold. Danielle might open on hurdy-gurdy before moving to violin and autoharp, all the while singing. Alexander, for their part, alternates between a heavy, metallic bass tone unmistakably reminiscent of Neubauten and percussion that floods an already hypnotized room with energy.
The evolution of their songs reflects the nearly 14 years the pair spent as nomads across different countries; except Latin America (my wife asked them). The vast majority of their records are laden with English-language lyrics, whilst their latest offering is primarily in German, which seems to mirror their settling in Berlin.
During the concert I had a strange feeling, and I’d dare to say it was a good thing that Hacke left Neubauten. He is happy, and it shows. The natural chemistry shared with Danielle carries directly to the audience: both radiate joy on stage; their communication seems nothing short of telepathic, as one might expect from any marriage; and what we are witnessing is a project in full bloom, pressing forward into uncharted territory.
