Javier Moraga
El sonidista y comunicador de la radio “Valentín Letelier” de la Universidad de Valparaíso y otrora conductor del programa “Caja de Pandora” entre 2013 a 2023, Javier Moraga, es un músico electrónico oriundo de Viña del Mar, Chile, quien actualmente conduce el espacio radial “Aldea Virtual” y participa en otros programas de esta emisora.
En 2004, integró el quinteto Olor a la Banda en la que tocó los teclados. Luego inicia su trayectoria en solitario publicando en forma independiente y en algunos sellos chilenos varios álbumes, EP’s y singles, siendo el último de ellos el EP “Aldea” de junio de este año.
En este proceso creativo, se anuncia para el 5 de diciembre el lanzamiento de “Infra”, su nuevo disco que contiene seis canciones que navegan en una dirección distinta a la IDM de los discos anteriores, explorando esta vez nuevos territorios más libres y acompañados de ritmos menos estructurados, como lo muestra el primer tema “Llavería 1”, desarrollando un dub lúdico mientras líneas sintetizadas se entrecruzan y forman una madeja de ruidos. Del dub al reggae con “Some Merlini” fluye un groove envolvente que invita a moverse. Le sigue “Elsimon” de ritmos sincopados al tiempo que de fondo permanece una línea ambiental.
“ProudUser” despliega un dub ralentizado junto a una miríada de voces y sonidos retorcidos que se esparcen por el espacio. De algo más de 13 minutos – el más largo del disco – “Slow_Diiversion” se sumerge en las profundidades en un ambiente acuoso, algo oscuro e inquietante, en cuyo desarrollo va expandiendo su veta exploratoria de nuevos sonidos.
The sound engineer and communicator of the radio station ‘Valentín Letelier’ of the University of Valparaíso, and former host of the programme ‘Caja de Pandora’ from 2013 to 2023, Javier Moraga, is an electronic musician from Viña del Mar, Chile, who currently hosts the radio programme ‘Aldea Virtual’ and participates in other programmes of the radio station.
In 2004, he joined the quintet Olor a la Banda, in which he played keyboards. He then began his solo career, releasing several albums, EP’s and singles independently and on some Chilean imprints, the last one is the EP ‘Aldea’ issued in June of this year.
In this creative process, the release of ‘Infra’ is announced for December 5th, and is his new record that consists of six songs that navigate in a different direction to the IDM of previous albums, exploring this time new, freer territories accompanied by less structured rhythms, as shown in the first track ‘Llavería 1’, creating a playful dub while synthesized lines intertwine and shape a skein of noises. From dub to reggae with ‘Some Merlini’ flows an enveloping groove that invites you to move. It is followed by ‘Elsimon’ with syncopated rhythms while an ambient line remains in the background.
‘ProudUser’ deploys a slowed-down dub alongside a myriad of twisted vocals and sounds that sprawl through space. At just over 13 minutes – the longest on the album – ‘Slow_Diiversion’ dives deep into a watery, somewhat dark and disquieting ambience, as it expands its exploratory vein with new sounds.
