The Fall es de los pocos grupos que aún conservan su energía punk que siempre bajo el liderazgo de Mark E. Smith, continúa sacando discos que a esta altura debe estar por sobre los 80 LP’s.
Con su peculiar forma de cantar-hablando que es el sello distintivo del líder del grupo – cuya formación está en permanente cambio -, ofrece en este disco desde rock and roll, pasando por el punk y el post-punk, cuyo sonido es tan fresco como conocido. Como decía John Peel, The Fall siempre se las arreglan para hacer lo mismo y sonar diferentes.
Hay temas destacados como “Blindness” con su retumbante bajo, la línea de sintetizador análogo al estilo new wave en “Pacifying joint” y el rock and roll de “I can hear the grass grow” cuyos riffs de guitarra recuerdan a bandas de rock de los ‘70.
Quizá aquí no hay mucha novedad pero desde luego que suena bien.

The Fall is one of the few bands that still keep their punk energy whose leadership is under Mark E. Smith. They keep on going production discs with a discography of more than 80 albums.
With his peculiar twisted voice like a preacher which is the characteristic of the leader of this changeful band, delivers from rock and roll, to punk, new wave and post-punk. Their sound is as fresh as predictable. As John Peel said once, The Fall always fixed to do the same but to sound different.
There are some notables here as ‘Blindness’ with its resounding bass, the new wave synth line on ‘Pacifying joint’ or the rock and roll guitars on ‘I can hear the grass grow’ whose guitar riffs remember me of Seventies rock bands.
Maybe there is much novelty here but it sounds good.
